Atlanta Graffiti Artists
Graffiti artists that is painted or written on a wall. The art can be in a variety of styles and can range from very simple to extremely elaborate. This type of art has existed since ancient times.
Shepard Fairey
Shepard Fairey is a popular contemporary street artist. He began his career with his “Andre the Giant Has a Posse” sticker campaign, which became a hit in many countries.
Shepard Fairey is a graphic designer, muralist, and a political activist. His works often address controversial social issues. His work has been used in posters, screen-prints, and murals. The artist enjoys working with black, white, and red.
Shepard Fairey is an activist and a member of the advisory board of the Music Is Revolution Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young people through music. He has also created a line of clothing called OBEY.
Shepard Fairey studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts. He is an active advocate for women, people of color, and those looking to gain equity.
Mister Totem
Mister Totem is an Atlanta based graffiti artist with more than 20 years of spraying his trade. While he may not be the world’s best at it, his work is arguably a worthwhile contribution to the world of street art.
One of his more notable accomplishments is the eponymous Totem – a massively popular 3D street mural that has taken the neighborhood by storm. As a matter of fact, his works are so well received that he was awarded a prestigious commission to create an epic 300 foot homage to the local history and heritage.
While his name isn’t a household name, he’s made a mark on the Atlanta graffiti scene for his signature robotic armored letter and other wacky feats of human ingenuity. The best part is that he’s a humble gent.
Alex Brewer
Alex Brewer is an Atlanta-based contemporary artist. His career has seen him produce public artwork in several locations around the world. He has also exhibited his work in solo and group shows.
Alex Brewer was a street artist for most of his life, but he was also a fine artist. Now he is best known for his large, colorful wall pieces.
He is also known as HENSE in the graffiti community. In the early 2000s, Brewer began developing his skills in the art of graffiti. This led him to begin painting on public walls and buildings.
Using acrylic, graphite and spray paint, he creates textured surfaces, layered with splashy shapes. His technique produces larger-than-life abstract paintings.
Selski
One of the few artists who can claim to be a member of both the arts and sciences fraternities, Selski is a true renaissance man. A self-proclaimed artist, he is also a docent on the Metro State campus, a jack of all trades in many respects. He has had his work on display in galleries from New York to California to the good old USA and beyond. Having exhibited in a multitude of art festivals from Miami to New York, it is safe to say that he has been a part of the scene for a while. The list of accomplishments is too long to go into here, but it is safe to say that he is one of the more enlightened alums of the art world.
Mister Fangs
Mister Fangs is a graffiti artist that has become a popular icon in Atlanta. He has a cult following and was even featured on the cover of the Creative Loafing Best of Atlanta. In fact, he is so popular that it has become common practice for residents of the city to go ghost hunting.
Mister Fangs was first created by Totem. His nickname is Haji P, and his real name is Greyson Davis. When he is not doing street art, he is a rapper, whose real name is not listed.
Mister Fangs has been known to appear as a birthday cake, or as a fried chicken. Sometimes he just appears as a ghost. However, he is more than just a ghost. Some people believe that he is a symbol of old Atlanta.
